Sorting criterion for standard sorting

When a user initiates a property search on the platform using specific search criteria, they are generally shown a list of results containing projects that meet these criteria, sorted by default. In this default sorting, the projects are displayed in a specific section of the results list depending on the listing type the providers of the displayed properties have booked with Immobilien Scout GmbH. A distinction is made between "Standard Placement," "Top Placement," "Premium Placement," "Showcase Placement," and "Panorama Placement."

Every listing is initially a Standard Listing. However, a paid placement product can be added to each listing – namely, Top Placement, Premium Placement, Showcase Placement, and Panorama Placement. These products influence a listing's position in the standard sorted results list: All panorama placements are listed in a block at the very top, followed by all window display placements, then all premium placements, then all top placements, and finally all standard listings.

When searching in predefined regions (state, city/county, or district/municipality), the listings within each block are sorted in descending order by the booking date of the placement product. However, a paid rotation product can be added to any listing, which will move the listing back to the top of the list after 3 or 7 days. For radius searches (postal code, street), the listings within each block are sorted in ascending order by distance. No rotation occurs in this case.

Exposé sorting when the search criterion is set by the user

The user has the option to sort the displayed property listings by setting a corresponding sorting criterion. Currently, the user can select one of the following criteria:"

1. Price: Cold rent or purchase price (highest or lowest first),
2. Distance (shortest first),
3. Number of rooms (highest or lowest first),
4. Living space (largest or smallest first),
5. Recency (newest first),

If the user selects one of the search criteria, the projects in the results list will be sorted exclusively according to that criterion. The additional criteria used in the standard sorting will not apply here. For listing groupings (such as projects), the listings within that grouping will also be displayed according to the selected sorting. If the values within these sorting criteria are identical, the listings will be sorted in descending order by Scout ID. This corresponds to sorting by recency, as this ID is assigned sequentially by the system when the listing is created.

If the user selects one of the search criteria, the projects in the results list will be sorted exclusively according to that criterion. The additional criteria used in the standard sorting will not apply here.
